Abstract:
Las infecciones de vías urinarias son las más frecuentes a nivel hospitalario siendo la
sepsis urinaria la expresión más grave de las alteraciones urológicas complicadas, ya que la
forma de presentación puede ser rápida, agresiva y mortal ocasionando así fallo orgánico
cuando no es tratada a tiempo. El objetivo de la investigación permitió determinar las
complicaciones más frecuentes de la sepsis urinaria asociado al cateterismo vesical en
pacientes adultos atendidos en el Hospital Dr. Abel Gilbert Pontón durante el 2018. Se realizó
estudio cuantitativo de tipo transversal y descriptivo, donde se obtuvo datos mediante una
ficha de vigilancia para la prevención de infecciones asociadas a la asistencia del profesional
de enfermería y las historias clínicas de los pacientes. La muestra estuvo representada por
142 pacientes candidatos al sondaje vesical, las variables estudiadas fueron vigilancia en el
cuidado del catéter vesical y sepsis urinaria. Los resultados determinaron que el 58,5% estuvo
conformado por el sexo femenino y 41,5% masculino el motivo de instalación fue 38,7% por
procedimientos quirúrgicos y 23,9% por medición del gasto urinario evidenciado en edades
comprendidas entre 30 – 49 años representado en el 53%, para lo cual el motivo de retiro fue
60,6% por alta hospitalaria; las principales complicaciones resultaron ser: Cistitis con el
28,2% y Prostatitis 27,5% en los hombres. Podemos concluir que se logró determinar las
principales complicaciones durante la colocación y el manejo del catéter vesical, logrando
cumplir con los protocolos establecidos en las instituciones.
