Item Games as a technique to teach vocabulary in english language learners(La Libertad, Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena, 2023, 2023-11-15) González Soriano, José Alejandro; León Abad, ElianaThe principal objective of this project is to build up vocabulary skills through the implementation of games as technique addressed to students of tenth grade at Unidad Educativa “Prof. Cleofé Apolinario Orrala”. In order to give technical support to the present research project it was necessary to research and develop information throughout the five chapters of the thesis project. The theoretical framework, the research methodology, and the implementation of the proposal, which describes the detailed process during the application of games as a technique applied to the students’ performance based on the level to improve the vocabulary. The proposal of the implementation of games as a technique to improve vocabulary represents the main accomplishment in this project. After the application of games as a technique, it was confirmed that students improved their speaking skills, and the students felt more motivated to participate and learn by means of basic and interactive conversations.Item Gamification as a methodological strategy in the classroom with children from second grade at Unidad Educativa John F. Fulfilling the objective of this research: to analyze the importance of gamification as a methodological strategy in the classroom with second grade children from the Unidad Educativa John F. Kennedy and the main problem: what is the importance of gamification and the methodological strategy in the learning process with the second-grade children of the Unidad Educativa John F. Kennedy? Using a qualitative method with a descriptive design, without manipulation or comparison between its variables so that the Focus Group technique applied to teachers achieves better results in socialization. Therefore, it was shown that the game mechanics are an educational and emotional challenge that allows students to better prepare themselves in the academic activities of the English language.Item Basic english vocabulary booklet for blind students at C.E.I. This is a way of contributing to their integral development using didactic elements and the braille method to facilitate language learning on blind students. The main problem is the lack of material in braille system to introduce basic english vocabulary in blind students at Melvin Jones. The observation and exploration method allowed finding that blind students could not learn English because of lack of materials of Braille System and the results showed a positive change in which students achieved a better understanding of vocabulary.Item Mobile application to enhance writing skills for tenth graders of Unidad Educativa Alfa y Omega, la Libertad, province of Santa Elena, school year 2018-2019.(La Libertad: Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena, 2020., 2020-02-12) Silvestre Pozo, David Andrés; Carabajo Romero, ÍtaloThe present work is an investigation which objective was to establish the use of WhatsApp as a teaching tool to enhance the writing skills on 23 students of tenth basic year at Unidad Educativa Alfa y Omega, in Santa Elena Province, Ecuador. The investigational group was allowed to use WhatsApp messenger Application in a smart device, whose principal characteristics are the usefulness of groups chatting, personal chatting sharing that allowed enhancing the writing skills on students through the practice of interactive activities, lectures and podcast. For the development of this research it was required to apply the qualitative method by implementing techniques such as: Focus group, observation and interviews. The results of these analysis demonstrated that the application of mobile learning technique in a smart device (WhatsApp), generate significant effects on writing skills of students such as the improvement of writing skill. The use of technology and games during the teaching process represents an alternative in which students are able to acquire new knowledge in a relaxing environment. Thus, the digital games have assumed a very relevant role in the educational lives of children and teenagers. Games may be used for teaching, practicing, or even evaluating the diverse students’ English skills; listening, speaking, reading, writing; vocabulary and grammar as well. For this work, digital games were implemented for developing and improving the low knowledge level of English vocabulary of students of sixth grade from Unidad Educativa “José Pedro Varela” located in La Libertad during the 2018 – 2019 academic period which represents the basis for the acquisition of English and its four main skills and be able to communicate with English speakers from the community and abroad. There are teachers who do not know how to teach a new language, especially English. Moreover, most of the students live in rural areas, such as Cerezal and Bellavista town and they are not exposed to English. However, this paper is done in order to improve one of the four skills such as writing skill, through apps for instance Google Classroom and other tools which offered by Google Company. In addition, the Ministry of Education requires that English instructors teach in an easy way to students in order to reach an intermediate level of English when they finish high school. School year 2018-2019(La Libertad: Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena, 2019, 2019-07-02) Suárez Gurumendi, Ronald Norberto; Vera Cruzatti, Rossana NarcisaThis research studies the different difficulties that learners face in class that do not allow them to increase the English proficiency level, the strategies which can be applied to improve those difficulties and the importance of the implementation of communication activities as a pedagogical tool in class. Thus the purpose of this research were: to improve the speaking skills in students of eighth basic grade using the communicative approach and to study if the students really can learn the English language using communicative activities. The sample group consisted of 38 students of eighth basic grade at Escuela de Educación Básica “Jose Pedro Varela”. In this research was implemented the qualitative method in which were applied the following instruments: interviews, focus group and observation; in order to obtain relevant information which contributed to solve the difficulties in the speaking skills students had. The implementation of the proposal implied the application of 10 interactive communication activities which were taking from the English book provided by the Ministery of Education, the activities were based on the units students had already learned in class so it helps to work, focus on the previous knowledge student acquire joining the new ones. Moreover, before starting with the interactive communication activities was necessary took a post-test (qualitative and quantitative) which aid to measure the level of speaking in them, then at the end of the proposal in the same way a pre-test (qualitative and quantitative) was taking in order to analyze the percentage of improvement (36%) they reached with the implementation of the proposal. The research finding was that students get a significant improvement in their speaking skills. On the other hand, is the motivation for teachers to be trained in the use of very useful and friendly platforms. Most of the teachers who work in the educational area teach in a monotonous way, it causes learners can not reach the results expected to, and they can not be able to master the English language. Therefore, born the idea to implement an innovative learning strategy focus on Cognitive methodology which imply to use a handmade quiet book with activities to develop the vocabulary acquisition in students of fourth basic grade at Escuela de Educación Básica “Juan Montalvo Fiallos”. This research work has as main objective: to analyze the impact of the didactic strategy based on the implementation of a handmade quiet book used to teach the English language in nine years old children. To carry on the research, four groups of people who are the UPSE specialists were studied; the principal, the English teacher and the students of the Educational Institution previously mentioned. The events were recorded and the data were obtained through the use of multiple instruments and techniques: 1) interviews, 2) focus group, 3) observation (observation guide). The results obtained contributed to the application of the proposal. The proposal includes a handmade quiet book with 16 activities focused on vocabulary that the students had already learned, so this didactic resource was implemented as a reinforce the previous knowledge students acquired in past lessons. The students who were taught with this learning strategy obtained better results since the proposal offers them relaxing moments, while they learned in an easy and fun way. Therefore, the application of this kind of strategy in education can be a good pedagogical tool which can contribute to enhance the teaching learning process and as a result aid to improve the English level in learners.Item Fun based learning to improve vocabulary in students of eighth basic grade at unidad educativa Almirante Alfredo Poveda Burbano. The information and communication technologies (ICTS) were the primary resources are programs to contribute in different ways to the education, especially in the process of teaching – learning of a foreign language like English. It is suggested due the impact of technologies in education, for this reason should be implemented a program that contribute with the development of the different skills in the students; also, to improve the English vocabulary for a better understanding. In this study, technology options motivated to the students to be engaged. However, is important to know that technology cannot be seem as a unique method to teach and learn a foreign language. Also, the teachers are guides of the students to keep the interaction between them in the learning process. The participant of this qualitative research, young English learners have been observed through different sections in a constructivist environment, while data was gotten from observations, interviews, surveys and focus group. Vocabulary is essential in the teaching- learning process of English language due to without enough knowledge of people cannot understand what are talking or writing. For this reason, vocabulary is a part of English which could be developed through using technology in class to improve it. So, the principal objective of this research proved that Ecuadorian legendary stories with the qualitative and inductive methods improved the speaking skill and it was possible to achieve it with the correct activities. Students practiced them, and they became better English speakers, their Speaking skill are in a very high level of proficiency. The use of Ecuadorian legendary stories was very useful for the improvement of the ability mentioned. Though the students of tenth grade from Colegio UPSE had a low level of speaking proficiency, they were predisposed to practice with the specific exercises. At the same time, it is focused in the development of English learners skills, considering the vocabulary knowledge as an important factor to reach such developments, phrasal verbs conform parts of key vocabulary that learners have to manage, since native English communication includes them daily, with the combination of these facts, it is propose a web application as a tool that motivates tenth grade students from Colegio Particular “Eloy Velásquez Cevallos” to learn phrasal verbs, by performing online activities such as: karaoke, cards reading, games and similar exercises; to advance in their comprehension abilities and even other skills, as a consequence students get stronger foreign language comprehension as well as fluency. La Libertad Santa Elena Province, school year 2017-2018. The information was got with the collaborative work of specialists, principal and English teachers in order to improve the deficiency of the speaking skills that was regarded for them as a priority. The participants of this research paper were12 students of eighth grade at Unidad Educativa Eloy Velásquez Cevallos. The methodology use here was qualitative, inductive and deductive method with the implementation of interactive lesson through webquests using the flipped classroom principles. Before application was necessary assessing the students’ speaking skills through a rubric with pre and post-test, which contributed to identify how the students increase their proficiency on the speaking skills. In effect, the application of this strategy offers a change from the traditional teaching methods to a more dynamic and interactive learning environment where learner shifts the classroom from passive to active learning. The research results showed that the implementation of a webquest lesson was effective to improve the speaking ability and also it contributed to increase the motivation to learn the English language in students of eighth grade at Unidad Educativa Eloy Velásquez Cevallos. The theoretical framework, the research methodology, and the implementation of the proposal, which describes the detailed process during the application of the digital book until the final assessment applied to the students’ performance based on the level of improvement of their speaking skills. The proposal of the implementation of the digital book with basic conversations to improve speaking skills represents the main accomplishment in this project. The current investigation was based on how to enhance the writing skill in English among students of 3rd BGU at Unidad Educativa John F. Kennedy in Salinas, Province of Santa Elena, school year 2017-2018, through the use of a Learning System. This research paper based most of its investigation on Jeremy Harmer‟s reasons to teach writing. Harmer said that those reasons comprise language development, learning style and writing as a skill in its own right. The main aim was to show how the use of technology can motivate students to develop their writing abilities while doing something interesting as writing according to their own preferences. This investigation used the qualitative and inductive and deductive method in order to gather the data. Through the use of the qualitative method the interviews and surveys were applied for collecting the appropriate information for the investigation while the inductive and deductive method helped the researcher to make assumptions and possible answers to the problematic already existing. The study involved the principal of the institution, 6 English teachers and the 25 3rd BGU students from Unidad Educativa John F. Kennedy. Furthermore, the results of the implementation of the LMS caused a positive impact on the 3rd BGU students from Unidad Educativa John F. Kennedy due to the motivation that they expressed before, during and after the development of the writing activities. The mentioned students not only increased their writing level but improved their vocabulary, grammar, grammar coherence and their communicative skills in English showing that technology can contribute in a positive way to the teaching-learning process.Item Songs to enhance communication in english on students of tenth basic year at Unidad Educativa John F. Kennedy. Salinas, Province of Santa Elena. School year 2017-2018, through songs. In this research work was applied the qualitative and quantitative methods. The researcher worked collaboratively with the specialist, principal and English teachers in order to improve the deficiency of the speaking skills that was the main issue during this research. The participants of this research object were 21 students of tenth basic year at Unidad Educativa John F. Kennedy. The data collections of this study were qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching learning process during and interviewing the specialists, principal and English teachers about the implementation of a song production in English classes. Furthermore, the quantitative data were gained by assessing the students’ speaking skills through the pre and post-test which contributed to identify how the students increase their proficiency of the English language focusing on the speaking ability. Moreover, the application of this strategy in education seems to be a good pedagogical tool for English teachers who seek how to teach English with songs in an easy and fun way. The research results showed that the implementation of a song production was effective to improve the speaking ability and also it contributed to increase the motivation to learn the English language in students of tenth basic year at Unidad Educativa John F. During the field research done at Presidente Tamayo School in Salinas there are problems in the learning English skills, but can be reinforced with appropriate methods. This project shows the improvement of eighth grade from President Tamayo School through vocabulary techniques that encourage students to develop their overall English fluency. The 18 students of first BGU year who participated in this investigation had difficulties with the writing skill they did not know how to build simple sentences and therefore write a simple paragraph. This research used as a methodological process the qualitative and quantitative approach because these methods allowed obtaining important information about the context of the problem. The proposal which was applied at Unidad Educativa Salinas Innova was based in a collaborative writing tool called Google Drive with Google Docs, Google slides and Google sheet web tools that were used because they allowed to work online with text, presentations in real time synchronically without specific activities to enhance writing skills in English language. The results demonstrated the use of Google drive increased the motivation among students of 1st. BGU at Unidad Educativa Salinas Innova. During the assessment stage it could be seen an improvement of 32 % between the pre and post-test after having implemented the project.
