Abstract: The main objective of this research work was to enrich the English vocabulary to students of eighth basic grade at Unidad Educativa Salinas Siglo XXI, Salinas Province of Santa Elena. School Year 2016-2017, through the implementation of interactive games. The actions were aimed to enrich the students’ vocabulary and increase their motivation to learn the English language. This research work involved the use of qualitative and quantitative methods. The researcher worked collaboratively with the English experts, the principal, English teacher and the students. The participants taking into account of this research work were 24 students of eighth basic grade at Unidad Educativa Salinas Siglo XXI, Salinas Province of Santa Elena. School Year 2016-2017. The data of this research work was qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data was obtained by observing the teaching and learning process during the implementation of the actions and the application of the focus group strategy for interviewing the students about the implemented actions. The qualitative data was in the form of field notes and interview records. Meanwhile, the quantitative data was gained by assessing the students’ vocabulary through the pre-test and post-test. Therefore, the quantitative data was implemented with the objective to obtain students grades in the pre-test and post-test. The instrument for collecting the data was a vocabulary rubric. Additionally, the research results showed that the interactive games were effective to enrich the students’ vocabulary and they were useful to increase the students’ motivation to learn the English language. It was shown that the students seemed to be more enthusiastic and active in the teaching learning process. They also showed improvement on their pronunciation in words and phrases.
