dc.descriptionIt is estimated that in Ecuador there are some 300 000 domestic hot water systems running on LPG, the vastmajority in the Andes provinces, mainly in the higher income households. LPG is a fuel subsidized by the government of Ecuador for the purpose of cooking, which is imported at a higher price from 90 cents of US dollar per kg and retails for 11 cents of US Dollar per kilogram. The use of water heating systems with solar thermal energy would permit the Ecuadorian state save a considerable amount of money that can be used for other purposes at the same time contribute to the reduction of negative impacts from the production and use of petroleum products and of course to reduce the generation of CO2en
dc.descriptionSe estima que en Ecuador existen unos 300 mil sistemas de agua caliente sanitaria funcionando con GLP, la gran mayoría en las provincias de la sierra y principalmente en los hogares de mayor ingreso económico. El GLP es un combustible subvencionado por el estado ecuatoriano con fines de cocción, el cual es importado con un precio mayor a 90 céntimos de dólar por kilogramo y vendido al público por 11 céntimos de dólares el kilogramo. El uso de sistemas de calentamiento de agua con energía solar térmica permitiría ahorrar al estado ecuatoriano una considerable cantidad de dinero que puede destinarse a otros fines; al mismo tiempo se contribuiría a la reducción de impactos negativos por la producción y el uso de derivados de petróleo y por supuesto por la generación de CO2.es
