| dc.description.abstract | This research focuses on analyzing the experiences of university students as they practice English through real-time online video games. To get information related to the research topic, a literature review was carried out, considering exclusion and inclusion criteria related to the validity of the sources, publication dates, and the connection to the environment being studied. This literature review allowed us to gather theoretical, pedagogical, and legal information that serves as support for the research. Innovative pedagogical models and the current legal regulations in Ecuador serve as a fundamental basis for this document. Additionally, a one-on-one interview was conducted with a sample of five university students, who were given a semi-structured interview with questions aimed at understanding their experience practicing English in settings such as video games. Through the interviews, it was possible to get a contextualized view of the research topic; the interviewees shared their opinions regarding the experience they have when interacting in English through the video game's interface. An important connection with the theoretical framework was evident, coinciding on elements such as safety, familiarity, a friendly atmosphere, the difference in pressure between the academic environment and the gaming environment, among other aspects. These elements obtained through the interviews allowed us to draw conclusions and make recommendations that address the research questions posed. | |
