| dc.description.abstract | In the Ecuadorian context, learning English continues to be a challenge due to traditional methods focused on grammar instruction and memorization. Those tactics, although dependent, have a tendency to limit students’ motivation, active participation and communicative capacity in their gaining knowledge of surroundings. Confronted with problem, using video games emerges as a progressive alternative that promotes significant, contextual, and motivating language mastering. This study used a qualitative and phenomenological research method with eight students from the Unidad Educativa Eloy Velasquez Cevallos as a sample. The author sued interviews with open-ended questions to understand students’ perceptions and experiences regarding video games as a tool to improve the acquisition of a foreign language such as English, thus understanding their influence /effects on their learning- The research revealed factors and characteristics that participants considered relevant. | |
