The development of listening skills is an important part of learning English as a Foreign Language, especially in very young learners. This research project analyzed how the design of listening materials influences children’s listening comprehension in the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador. Teaching English to young children requires creativity and the use of age-appropriate resources that capture their attention and help them stay motivated. The main purpose of this study was to explore teachers’ experiences and opinions about the effectiveness of listening materials used in early English lessons. This research followed a qualitative and phenomenological approach and included interviews with eight English teachers from different early education institutions. The results showed that the most effective listening materials are short, dynamic, and supported by visuals, because these elements help children connect sounds with meaning. In the interviews conducted with teachers, they repeatedly emphasized that some of the factors that ensure the successful design of listening skills resources and the participation of very young students are assured and a successful lesson is achieved are clarity of pronunciation, relevant content with visual aids. However, there are also challenges in some cases: a lack of materials and limited training in the use of digital materials. Research showed that carefully designed and planned listening activities make a difference in very young children's participation and improved learning.
