dc.description.abstract Learning English is not an easy process as it requires a lot of dedication to develop all the skills. Students need to practice independently, not only in the classroom because in this way they can improve communication skills. To improve the learning process, the use of techniques to develop it is recommended. For that reason, this research project based on the use of self learning techniques aims to identify the impact of these techniques on the improvement of speaking skills in the students of English Module II. To achieve this objective, previously conducted studies related to the topic will be used and compared with the responses collected from the students; these responses will be based on their experiences and will be obtained through a focus group interview. Therefore, the method applied in this research project is the phenomenological method, which in this case analyzes the students' experiences related to self learning techniques. As a result, favorable outcomes were obtained, since it is evident how the students have been able to improve their English-speaking skills by implementing self-learning techniques in the learning process es
